Join Us For Sharing and Practice

Bread Loaf Mountain Zen Community and Zen Peacemakers International continue to offer Street Retreats as a means for Bearing Witness to humanity. Join us for a brief presentation and practice with Joel Ekai Kreisberg. Earlier in December Joel spent eight days living on the the streets of San Francisco. He will share some of his experience and answer questions. He will also lead the group in the morning service practice used during the retreat. There will be a brief meditation together.

There is no fee for this event. You will be offered an opportunity to contribute with the registration

So the sesshin was created to try to get people out of the space that they’re familiar with, to get them into a space where they are not in control of the situation. In the same way, the idea of “plunges” is one of the tools of the Peacemaker Order. We ask you to plunge into a place about which you are completely unfamiliar, a place of your fears, a place of your unknown. It could even be a beautiful place: a plunge into being a clown could take you out of your usual way of thinking.
