Rohatsu - All Night Meditation

Rohatsu

Honoring Shakyamuni Buddha’s Awakening

Saturday, December 7th - Sunday, December 8th

4:30 pm ET - 4:30 am ET(NY)

Rōhatsu, is a celebration of the historical Buddha’s awakening. In Zen this is observed the 8th day of the 12th month. Zen monks and layperson followers stay up the entire night in zazen practice in community.

As we are an international sangha, we mostly gather on Zoom or in our Zoomdo Thus our Rohatsu Ceremony will be celebrated over multiple time zones beginning in London at 9:30 pm GMT and ending in Vancouver at 1:30 pm PT, which for ease of scheduling is 4:30 pm ET - 4:30 am ET.
