Faces of Compassion - Spring Practice Period 2025
Maitreya Bodhisattva
The Future Buddha
Dharma Talk by Ming Po Larry Matthews
Saturday, May 10th
9:00 am - 11:00 am ET (New York)
Online
Join us for the sixth of the seven bodhisattva archetypes from Taigen Dan Leighton’s Faces of Compassion. This session explores Maitreya as a Bodhisattva archetype. Maitreya sits in Tusita Heaven in blissful meditation contemplating how to save all suffering beings. He or she awakens our hopes for the future and our responsibility to future generations. Appearing in Pali Canon as well as in later Mahayana Sutras, Maitreya is revered by both Theravadan and Mahayana traditions,
Share with the sangha as we listen to the reflections of senior dharma teacher Ming Po Larry Matthews, followed by question and response. After a short break you are invited to our weekly morning service and zazen practice.
The Spring Practice Period is open to anyone.
There is no fee for this event. A donation requested.
