Sacred Ceremony - Shuso Ceremony

Shuso Ceremony

Saturday May 18th - 10:00 am - 11:30 am ET (New York)

Online

Join us for our this special ceremony during our regular monthly Saturday practice period. The Shuso is the traditional title of the head student in the monastery. In the today’s world, the monastery is in our homes through zoom. Ming Po Larry Matthews has been serving the community in this role since the beginning of 2024.

The Shuso Ceremony allows the community to publicly recognize Ming Po’s leadership. Ming Po Larry Matthews will be offering a teaching to the community as the Shuso. We follow with a dharma encounter in which the community directs questions to the Shuso as as an opportunity to share his wisdom directly with the sangha.

Ceremonial practice is best done together as a community. Shining Bright Lotus Meditation Society is pleased to be facilitating leadership within our community. Join society members and leaders as they deepen the collective through chanting, prayer, dharma discussion and meditation. No experience necessary.

Sacred Ceremony is open to anyone.

There is no fee for this event.
