Rōhatsu, is a celebration of the historical Buddha’s awakening. In Zen this is observed the 8th day of the 12th month. Zen monks and layperson followers stay up the entire night practicing meditation
Since our community gathers mostly on Zen, our Rohatsu Ceremony will be celebrated over multiple time zones beginning at 10:30 pm GMT (London) and ending at 1 pm PT (Vancouver).
Practice Structure
Each meditation practice session will begin at half past the hour beginning at 10:30 ET. The period will last for 50 minutes followed by a 10 minute break. Leaders will change every two hours. Participants are requested not to enter the online zendo in the middle of the practice period.
